About the Event

On Saturday, December 11, 2004, Self Storage Economics sponsored the first annual "Corazón for Christmas" in Nuevo Milenio, Mexico.

Fifty volunteers labored to build a house in one day for a family in need. The day started at 6am and concluded at nightfall. It was a day of hard work and dedication to the completion of a 16' x 20' home.

Corazón is an all-volunteer, nonprofit, nondenominational corporation formed in 1978 to serve the poor in Mexico. The familia Corazón program is not a handout to the poor; rather, it is a proven method of assistance that allows the poor to help themselves.

Corazón helps the poor by letting them earn hours through working in their community. These hours can be exchanged for food, clothing and other needed supplies. This helps the families to help themselves and work alongside their neighbors.

Colleagues and friends of Self Storage Economics lent their support to the house build in two ways: by contributing their time and/or money. $5,500 was needed to build the house plus any additional expenses. Their generosity and charitable spirit made the project possible.

Self Storage Economics is committed to helping the poor within our reach. Through annual "Corazón for Christmas" projects, we hope to work together to provide hope and holiday cheer to a family in Mexico every year.
